                            RESOLUTION NO.   21226  
                
                
                 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
                 AN AGREEMENT WITH HAMILTON COUNTY AND THE
                 STADIUM CORPORATION FOR CERTAIN IMPROVEMENTS
                 ADJACENT TO THE NEW MAX FINLEY STADIUM AND
                 GORDON DAVENPORT FIELD.
                
                
                                                    
                
                
       	    	 WHEREAS, the State of Tennessee Department of
       Transportation has awarded the City and County a Federal ISTEA
       grant of $3.5 million for certain improvements around the site of 

       the new Stadium; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, equally shared grant match in the amount of
       $875,000 has been approved by the City and County; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, these improvements will include a Pedestrian
       Plaza, streetscaping, and parking facilities; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the Stadium Corporation is managing
       construction of the project; and
       	    	 WHEREAS, the Stadium and associated improvements in the
       surrounding Southside area are vital to the future development 
and
       prosperity of our community;
       	    	 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
       THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that the Mayor be and is
       hereby authorized to execute an Agreement with Hamilton County 
and
       the Stadium Corporation for certain improvements adjacent to the
       new Max Finley Stadium and Gordon Davenport Field.
